INTERN SERIES: CONSTANTLY LEARNING

September 6, 2016

My internship here at CS3 Advisors has provided many valuable lessons in business, and professional interactions in general. Choosing the most valuable lesson is difficult, but there is one that sticks out. Coming out of my third and final year of undergrad with a degree in Mathematical Finance, I felt confident in what I had learned, and what I was going to accomplish.

I think this is the case with many new graduates - we think we know it all. It’s easy to fall into that trap when you are in the mostly sheltered environment of a university for several years. With the familiar surroundings of the same students you’ve walked along side, the same professors that you’ve grown to know, and the same routine every day, you become too confident in the comfort.

Working at CS3 has shown me how the business world really works. In an environment where there are all sorts of people, with different ages, different motivations, and different backgrounds, things don’t go as smoothly as the simulated environment of the classroom. Yet, at the end of the day a lot more gets accomplished. Real services are performed for real customers, and provide real benefits.

In the 4 short months of my internship, I have learned more about business than all my years at school, and I look forward to getting to learn more as I take my full time position here at CS3 Advisors.
